​Macc Links was a bespoke project for the Macclesfield 1261 Festival in 2026 from an idea by Inna Lymar. She is a Ukranian living in Macclesfield. Our event took place in the Town Hall and during the day discovered the links that Macc people have with the rest of the Uk and around the world.

People chose thread colours and attached them to two enormous textile maps to show where they had family connections or had lived previously themselves.

Many took photos and sent them to relatives. As the day passed,  the maps got covered in threads and everyone realised how wide our connections stretched.

Tori Chaka, also a local Ukranian, filmed links stories from willing participants to make a short film to be shown in Macclesfield Textile Week .
